Zakat al-Fitr is due at the end of Ramadan so every Muslim can celebrate Eid with dignity. Pay early so it arrives before Eid Salah.

“The Prophet ﷺ obligated Zakat al-Fitr as a purification for the fasting person from idle and obscene talk and as food for the poor.” — Abu Dawood

IPC Ontario distributes Fitrah locally to eligible recipients before Eid.

What you need to know

Who pays Every Muslim with food for Eid day, for themselves and dependents under their care
Amount Typically $10–$15 per person based on staple food costs. Confirm current rates with the office
Deadline Before Eid Salah. Pay early so distribution reaches recipients in time

Fitrah is obligatory charity that purifies fasting from shortcomings and allows the less fortunate to partake in the joy of Eid. The Prophet ﷺ warned that Eid prayers are incomplete without giving Zakat al-Fitr.
